About the Provider
Board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with over 14 years of healthcare experience — the majority of which has been trained and practiced within the Veterans Health Administration. Former ICU nurse. Completed a psychiatric NP residency at the Albuquerque VA (2021–2022), where training was led by neuropsychiatrists from some of the nation's top academic medical centers. Has practiced independently as a PMHNP in geriatric psychiatry and dementia care since 2022, currently still practicing at the Dallas VA Medical Center.
Focused on cognitive impairment, dementia, and complex psychiatric care in older adults and veterans. Care includes comprehensive evaluation, medication management, compassion-focused psychotherapy, and dementia education around safety, cognitive function, and caregiver support.
Holistic and integrative in approach — care here is rooted in compassion-focused therapy, an evidence-based model that gently guides patients toward greater self-compassion, emotional resilience, and acceptance of their own humanity. Rather than focusing solely on symptoms, this approach helps patients relate to themselves with kindness — easing self-criticism, softening anxiety, and nurturing a deeper sense of inner safety and peace. The guiding motto: “happy, healthy, and safe.”
Voted Top Nurse Practitioner in Albuquerque (2022). Former adjunct professor at UNM. Current NP preceptor and educator through UTA.

Services
Thoughtful psychiatric care tailored to the needs of older adults and their families — no rushed appointments, no one-size-fits-all answers.
Who we work with
Our Philosophy
Good psychiatric care isn't about checking boxes. It's about understanding the whole person — their history, their values, and what actually matters to them day to day.
"We believe good psychiatric care begins with truly listening."
Older adults are often prescribed more medications than they need. We take a careful, evidence-guided look at what's working — and what isn't — and make changes thoughtfully and safely.
Our goal isn't just symptom management. It's helping people feel more like themselves — clearer, more present, and better able to do the things that matter to them.
Every treatment plan is grounded in the best available research and shaped around the individual in front of us. No two patients are the same, and we don't treat them that way.
Who We Serve
We primarily serve adults 65 and older — including those navigating memory changes, a new or existing dementia diagnosis, late-life depression or anxiety, or the challenges of managing multiple medications.
We also welcome families and caregivers who are trying to understand what their loved one is experiencing and how best to support them. You don't have to figure this out alone.
Legacy Minds sees patients across New Mexico via telehealth, making specialized geriatric psychiatric care accessible regardless of where you live.
